In 2015, I wrote a personal review of Out of Milk app. It was an awesome app that could fulfill all of my needs and had became one of the must installed apps in my low-to-mid range mobile phone at that time. However, things change.
Yesterday I received email from Out of Milk informing me that the current owner (Bonial International GmbH) is selling its ownership rights in the Out of Milk app to InMarket (InMarket Media, LLC).
What will happen after this change of ownership?
For users that are located in the United States or Canada, the email states that:
as of July 21, 2021, InMarket will own, control, operate, and maintain the functionality and operability of your Out of Milk account in accordance with InMarket’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
So basically, you can use the app as usual. However, if you do not want your account and personal data be transferred to InMarket, you can terminate your Out of Milk account and stop using the app before 21 July 2021.
The biggest change would be for the users that are located outside of the United States and Canada, as the email state:
you will not be able to continue to use the Out of Milk app and we hereby terminate your Out of Milk account. At present, InMarket only offers its apps and services in the United States and Canada. The personal data of Out of Milk accounts for users specifically identified with a location that is not in the United States or Canada will not be transferred to InMarket as part of the transaction and will be deleted in the context of the termination of the account.
So, if you are not in the US and Canada, this will be your final goodbye as you will be no longer able to use Out of Milk app and your account will be terminated very soon. If you have important data in your account, you should download it immediately, which you can do from the app or from Out of Milk website.
