Quite a lot of interesting things happened in the beginning of 2016. And I see there are more to come for the rest of the year.
Such as, the total solar eclipse that will happen on March and some other rare astronomical events that will happen throughout 2016.
Also, 2016 is a leap year, which means February 2016 has 29 days! This only happens every 4 years.
Now talking about February. I wanted to create something about February for this month's post.
Bird-Feeding and Bird-Watching Campaigns
After some research online, I came to know that February is the National Bird-Feeding Month in United States. February is considered as one of the difficult months for wild birds, thus people are encouraged to provide food, water, and shelter for wild birds to help them survive. It can be a good opportunity too to watching the birds in their natures.
Even if we don't live in America, I think this campaign is still relatable to everyone around the world - that is, to raise awareness of wildlife preservation (of wild birds, in this case)
I think it would be great to draw a bird in relation to that campaign for this month's blog post. However, I couldn't find any bird species that is associated with February.
The Amethyst Starling
February's birthstone is amethyst. So I started to search for bird species with amethyst-colored feathers.
Then I found the Amethyst Starling (also known as plum-colored starling) or the violet-backed starling (Cinnyricinclus leucogaster).
I, then, decided to create a vector graphic of the Amethyst Starling - taking references from the photographs from Google Image search results.
* I will just share the image of the vector I created, instead of the vector graphic file itself.
Remember, if you see any beautiful exotic birds, do not capture it and lock it away in a cage. Just let them alone and adore them in their natural habitats. You can do bird-feeding, bird-watching, take a picture, or make a painting, but never disturb them. 🙂
